The Children's Society Mentoring: Redbridge Befriending Scheme

Give a little time and make a difference

Redbridge Student Befriending Scheme is an exciting new service managed by The Children's Society. We are looking for volunteers who would like to be a befriender for a child or young person with a disability.

Befriending offers you a way to have fun and learn new skills. Volunteers build up a relationship with a young person and support them in taking part in a leisure activity of their choice. The aim is to support the development of the young person’s self esteem, independence and social skills.

All volunteers are expertly trained and provided with ongoing support from staff at The Children's Society. We ask that volunteers meet with their young person on a regular basis and commit to the project for one year. Befriending is fun and rewarding, it gives you practical experience and brings something unique to your CV.
